The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) has organised a 50th Anniversary Regimental Dinner for students of the Senior Command and Staff Course (SCSC) 47 as part of activities marking the completion of their professional military education and training, while promoting camaraderie, military tradition and esprit de corps among officers.
The dinner, held at the GAFCSC Fletcher Mess Dining Hall at Otu Barracks, Teshie, on Friday, 14 August 2026, brought together Service Chiefs of the Ghana Army and the Ghana Air Force, Commandats from Ghana Military Academy (GMA), Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Chief of Ghana Armed forces Defence Intelligence, senior officers, Directing Staff and students of SCSC 47.
Speaking at the dinner, the Guest of Honour, His Excellency Vice Admiral Seth Amoama (Rtd), congratulated the officers for successfully completing the rigorous programme, describing the achievement as a significant milestone in their professional military careers and a testament to their dedication, perseverance and commitment to excellence.
He stressed that their success came with greater responsibilities and urged them to apply the knowledge acquired from the College to improve operational effectiveness and strengthen institutional performance in their respective appointments.
He noted that traditional threats now co-existed with emerging challenges, including terrorism, violent extremism, cyber threats, transnational organised crime, disinformation campaigns, climate-related security risks, and competition across multiple domains.
His Excellency Vice Admiral Amoama (Rtd) noted that the future battlefield would increasingly be influenced by technological advancements, including artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, space capabilities, and information operations. He therefore urged military leaders to harness emerging technologies while remaining grounded in the enduring principles of military leadership and service.
He encouraged the officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, discipline, and service, noting that effective contemporary leadership required not only technical competence but also moral courage, emotional intelligence, and the ability to inspire others towards achieving a common purpose.
The Guest of Honour also acknowledged the participation of allied officers from various African countries. He said their participation demonstrated the strong relationships and partnerships that existed among African countries. He added that the bonds forged during the course would contribute to enhanced military cooperation, interoperability, and collective efforts towards regional and international peace and security.
The Guest of Honour commended GAFCSC for developing a curriculum aimed at equipping officers with strategic thinking, operational art, leadership, and decision-making skills. He said through academic studies, planning exercises, research, and practical applications, the College continued to develop the intellectual capacity of officers to operate effectively in the dynamic security environment.
The Guest of Honour also congratulated the following students for emerging winners in the various awards: Major D. A. Brakatu for the Commandant's Research Paper/Best Dissertation Award, Major S. A. Mishio for the Everard Award, and Major B. Banda for the Most Improved Student Award.
He commended the award recipients for their outstanding achievements, noting that their accomplishments had brought honor to their respective services and nations.
