In his address, the Commandant of GAFCSC, Major General Matthew Essien, welcomed the students and acknowledged the significance of the occasion. He emphasized the importance of commitment to rigorous academic and professional programs, as well as embracing responsibilities to contribute to national and global security.
Major General Essien noted that the Post Graduate Diploma in Defence and Security Studies is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to operate effectively in complex and dynamic security environments.
The Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. Napoleon Kurantin, on his part assured the students that GAFCSC is committed to upholding and protecting their peaceful stay in the college. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the college's rules and regulations, participating in all activities, and committing fully to their studies.
Dr. Kurantin posited that the main goal of the matriculation ceremony was to acquaint students with the fundamental principles, norms, and culture of the institution, noting that these core values have projected the image of GAFCSC as a Centre of Excellence for higher educational learning in military science, academics, and character molding of students.
The students are expected to graduate in six months and will be equipped with analytical, thinking, and communication skills, as well as professional knowledge and understanding, to support their careers in sub-unit command levels.
