The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), Senior Command and Staff Course (SCSC) 47, has held the closing ceremony for the Defence Management Course (DMC) 2026 at Hamidu Hall, Otu Barracks, Teshie, on Thursday 23 July 2026. The two-week course was designed to equip military and civilian personnel working within, or in collaboration with, the security sector with the knowledge, principles and techniques relevant to improving the governance and management of the defence and security sectors.
The Guest of Honour for the occasion, Mr Alphonse Quianoo, Esq, Deputy Commissioner of Customs in Charge of Post Clearance Audit, in his closing address, commended the College for organising the course to strengthen participants' understanding of defence management and promote cooperation among institutions within Ghana's security architecture. He noted that effective defence management requires coordinated planning, accountability and the prudent utilisation of resources, and urged participants to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the course to improve service delivery within their respective organisations. He further encouraged them to sustain the professional networks established during the programme to enhance collaboration in addressing national and regional security challenges.
Mr Alphonse further applauded the commitment and enthusiasm demonstrated by participants throughout the programme and expressed appreciation to the resource persons for enriching the course with their knowledge and practical experiences. He also acknowledged the continued support of the British High Commission for sponsoring the programme and commended the Commandant, directing staff and all those whose contributions ensured the successful conduct of the course. He congratulated participants on successfully completing the programme and formally declared the Defence Management Course 2026 closed.
The ceremony also featured the presentation of certificates to external participants by the Guest of Honour, assisted by the Commandant of the College, Major General (Maj Gen) Jackson Wonje, in recognition of their successful completion of the Defence Management Course 2026.
