A 7-member delegation from the Zimbabwe National Defence College Joint Command and Staff Course 39, led by the Commandant, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Christopher Sibanda, paid a courtesy call on the Commandant of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), Major General (Maj Gen) Jackson Wonje, on Thursday, 30 July 2026, at Otu Barracks, Teshie.
The visit aimed to strengthen academic ties and cooperation between the two institutions as part of the delegation's educational study tour of the Ghana Armed Forces.
The Commandant of the Zimbabwe National Defence College expressed his appreciation to Major General Jackson Wonje for the warm reception. He stated that it was an honour to visit the College to gain a deeper understanding of its academic programmes, training, security practices, and institutional experience, which would help enrich the knowledge and professional development of their students. He further noted that, as the Zimbabwe National Defence College marks 30 years since its establishment, it is his aspiration to modernise the institution.
In his address, the Commandant of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), Major General Jackson Wonje, expressed his appreciation to the Commandant of the Zimbabwe National Defence College and commended him for making the visit despite the short notice. He stated that it would be a pleasure to host the delegation again in the future with more extensive preparations to further strengthen the academic relationship and cooperation between the two institutions.
As part of the engagement, the delegation received a detailed briefing on the history, mission, vision, organisational structure, and academic programmes of GAFCSC from the Chief Coordinator, Colonel George Oduro, at the College's Conference Room.
The visit concluded with the presentation of souvenirs by the two Commandants as a symbolic gesture of goodwill and the enduring professional relationship between the two institutions.
