The Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Ambassador Moses Ifedaya Adeoye, paid a visit to the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) on Friday, 17 April 2026, at Otu Barracks, Teshie.
The purpose of the visit was for the Ambassador to deliver a lecture to participants of Senior Command and Staff Course 47 on the topic "Nigerian Foreign Policy". The visit also provided an opportunity for him to formally engage with the Commandant, Major General Jackson Wonje, on ways to strengthen cooperation and collaboration between Ghana and Nigeria on security matters.
In his welcome address, the Commandant, Major General Jackson Wonje expressed appreciation to Ambassador for honoring the invitation to lecture the students. He also shared his experience serving as a Directing Staff member in Nigeria for two years, highlighting Nigeria's recognition of Ghana's contributions and the strong similarities between the two nations.
The Commandant further raised concerns about violent extremism in the Sahel region and emphasized the College's commitment to training personnel in security and strategic studies. In this regard, he noted that Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, had previously been invited to deliver a lecture titled "ECOWAS and its Survival: Impact of the Alliance of Sahelian States and the Way Forward" on 3 July 2025. He stated that the lecture provided valuable insights, highlighted areas of neglect, and generated ideas to enhance regional security.


In his remarks, Ambassador Adeoye expressed gratitude for the warm reception and the opportunity given to him to address the participants. He highlighted key security challenges facing Nigeria and stressed the importance of collaboration and joint solutions to address them. He also commended the various forums that facilitate for knowledge exchange and encouraged continued cooperation between the two countries.


Following the lecture, the Ambassador interacted with the Nigerian Directing Staff and Nigerian Students on the Senior Command Staff Course 47. The visit concluded with the presentation of a plaque by the Commandant to the High Commissioner as a symbolic gesture of appreciation from the College.
