The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) organized a seminar on leadership and National Security of the Senior Command and Staff Course(SCSC) 47 students on Friday, 7 August 2026, at the Hamidu Hall in Teshie.
The seminar, which brought together 90 students, comprising 64 from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and 26 from allied armed forces, aimed to examine how leadership, command and control, defence management, and civil-military relations can be strengthened to respond effectively to the increasingly complex national and regional security environment.
The highly interactive seminar featured Brigadier General Joseph Nunoo-Mensah (Rtd) as the main speaker. He began by introducing the students to key issues shaping the contemporary security environment, noting that the security landscape is undergoing profound transformation. He explained that today's security challenges do not fit neatly within the responsibilities of any single institution, making inter-agency collaboration essential.
Brigadier General Nunoo-Mensah further highlighted the importance of building institutional trust, managing uncertainty, allocating scarce resources efficiently, encouraging initiative for greater effectiveness, and providing opportunities to examine security issues from different professional perspectives.
The seminar ended with an interactive discussion between the students and the guest speaker.
